Camelot showed their intent right from the kick-off at Chaulden Lane, with some big hits and hard runs, however all the early pressure came from Biggleswade who were faster to the breakdown and seemed to want it that bit more.

Nonetheless, it was the Knights who broke the deadlock when some sterling work from both the forwards and backs saw Adam Whyatt storm forward from his own 22, before Ryan Long added the finishing touch. The always excellent Tom Batson slotted home the conversion to give Camelot a solid 7-0 lead.

Biggleswade, however, had other ideas and put the Knights under enormous pressure, converting two penalties to cut the Camelot lead to 7-6 at half-time.

Again Biggleswade came on strong after the interval but were repeatedly repelled by the excellent Knights backline, with Danny Howard and Whyatt being ably assisted by the powerful Tom Wilcox, Aaron Austin, Bill Jahn and Mark Kwariciarny.

Special mention also goes to man of the match Mike Byrne who all smashed every attack back with monster hits, allowing Camelot to pounce and extend their lead.

Connor Breen fed speedy wing Dylan Bransgrove to make an impressive 40-yard break before making a fine one-handed pass behind his back to captain Jon Byrne to touch down for a 12-6 lead.

After that it was all Camelot, as subs Oliver Martin and Matt Bennett added extra steel to the line-up after the side were reduced to 13 men due to some questionable yellow cards from the referee.

With the Knights back to the full 15, their quality showed again as player of the season contender Mark Pynaert scored in the corner to give Camelot an unassailable 17-6 lead and the win.

The Camelot Knights now move into the semi-final of the cup against Saracens Amateurs. The game will be played at Saracens Amateurs ground, Bramley Sports Ground, Green Road, London N14 4AB, kick-off 3pm.
