Commendable work from Tring Swimming Club duo

Johnny Bradley, head coach, received his highly commended in Community Coach of the Year category and was nominated for the positive effect he has had since taking on the role nearly two years ago.

He has transformed swimmers’ morale and focus, which in turn has affected their performance, team results and most importantly, their enjoyment of the sport.

Tring became champions of the Herts Major League (Division Two) this year, and have been promoted to division One, a first return to that division since 2007.

Individually, Johnny gives careful feedback on technique and pushes swimmers to reach their full potential.

Mike Billingham, chairman at Tring Swimming Club, received a highly commended for Volunteer of the Year.

Mike embodies everything that is good about community volunteer-led clubs: his priorities are always the swimmers and the good of the club.

He spends hours organising (and re-organising!) coaching schedules, working on club strategy and forming links with other local swimming clubs, not to mention running committee meetings and working poolside with the swimmers at various events.

Mike and Johnny both put the swimmers at the centre of everything, and give up huge amounts of time to benefit them and the club as a whole.
