A busy weekend for the Dacorum & Tring Road Runners

Dacorum & Tring AC Road Runners were in action all over the country at the weekend, competing in road running and cycling events as far away as Cardiff and Northumberland.

A team of 15 runners headed south to the Bournemouth Marathon festival, with five club members lined up for the 10k race.

Jamie Marlow used the race as a warm-up for the full marathon the following day, finishing 21st overall with a respectable time of 39:38 minutes.

Helen Reardon was next across the line in 461st position in a time of 56:14, followed by Casper Du Buisson, who ran 56:15 in his first 10km race.

Jason Hawkridge coasted to an easy 1:14:40, as a warm-up for the half marathon the following day, while Robert Wright finished in 1:14:39.

The next day, 11 Road Runners took on the Bournemouth Half Marathon, with Steve Russell leading the team home in a massive new PB of 1:33:30. He was followed by Russell Morris, who also smashed his PB with a time of 1:36:42, and Martin Kerr, who bettered his previous best by five minutes to finish in 1:50:30.

Next up was Jessica Tanner, who finished in 1:54:12 after fighting a cold all week; Dave Stears and Louisa Hopper, who crossed the line together in 1:56:26; Jason Hawkridge, who ran a new PB of 1:57:38; Claire Copperwhite, who beat her previous half marathon PB by nine minutes to finish in 2:03:47; Michelle Ashwell and Kirsty Russell in 2:08:28 and 2:09:42 respectively, and Vicky Thornley, who finished in 2:10:58 despite battling a foot injury.

Jamie Marlow finished the full marathon in 3:07:41, for 55th position overall, while Kelly Du Buisson posted a new PB of 3:33:08 to cross the line as 20th lady.

Elsewhere, Matt Hamilton took on the Cardiff Half and managed to sneak under his target of 1:30:00, finishing in a speedy 1:29:37.

Over at the Blenheim Palace Half Marathon, Alex Bayliss finished in 2:09:00 on a very hilly course.

Closer to home, twin sisters Samantha Sullivan and Alison Richardson and team-mate Chris Kitchener took on the Abbots Langley Tough Ten.

Chris sped to a PB finish of 40.52, while Sam recorded a time of 46.51 – her first time under the 50-minute mark in the event – and Alison also clocked a new PB of 51:10.

Richard Smith, meanwhile, finished the Box Hill 70-mile sportive, and Jan Strachan competed in the Kielder Run Bike Run in Northumberland – taking more than 11 minutes off the time she posted last year.
