Bridgewater School pupils took part in the World 5,000m Relay Challenge

The relay consisted of 25 legs of 200m each and teams could be made up of between nine and 25 runners.

Two schools ran at a time around a 200m track to try and beat Mo Farah’s world record time.

Bridgewater ran in the third heat against Brookmead School. Emma Walker got the team off to a fantastic start and managed a perfect changeover to Harry Mabbs who was the school’s second leg runner.

The Bridgewater target was to beat 15 minutes and they managed a time of 14 minutes and 49 seconds.

This time currently puts them in third place out of all the schools that have completed the challenge, and also earned them the Tring and District Cup.

Well done to the Bridgewater team of Emma, Harry, Ethan Brimmer, Sam Barton, Sam Green, Yoan Tonev, Bailey Lutta, Renee Britten, Lucy Preston, Ned Preston, Paddy Read and Jude James.
