First-time fighters Bobby Fielding and Mark Gibbings, along with Wez Crane, who stepped into the ring for the second time, walked away with winning trophies.

They were fighting out of Mmax Gym – formerly Hemel Martial Arts – under professional fighter and head coach Denniston ‘Mad Max’ Sutherland.

The trio were among fighters from 12 UK gyms competing at the fight night – staged by the Adeyfield-based Britannia Gym under head coach Nick Morrish.

He said: “Every fight was a good fight and every fight was fair and square. I couldn’t have asked for any more.”

He too had fighters who were making their debuts in the ring. Chris Baxter lost his first bout during the second round when coach Nick threw in the towel for safety reasons and Tom Godfrey won his first boxing fight.

The bout between Britannia’s own Jack Haslett and Jacob Wells from Marty Cox Gym was hailed the fight of the night by the show’s commentator. Both young men showed good technical expertise and the close fought battle was won by Wells.

The much anticipated final fight of the night was K1 between Britannia’s Ricardo James, known as Ricky, and Joseph Thomas from Gym London South. After much deliberation the fight was declared a draw.

There were 19 fights on the night at Liquid and Envy Nightclub in Luton, which saw bouts of boxing, white collar boxing, full contact kickboxing and K1.

Britannia will be hosting a boxing show at Hatfield’s The Forum on June 13, while the club’s end of year kickboxing and K1 show – The Halloween Massacre – will be held at Liquid and Envy on October 31.
