What a difference a few weeks makes. The Berko ladies beat Leighton Buzzard this weekend and there is now just one point separating the two sides.

Berko had the best of the game and deserved the 2-1 win, as player of the match Stef Abson drove them on to victory.

The ladies’ 2s, meanwhile, also struck a significant blow. In beating Saffron Walden they went to the top of their league and are now just two wins from confirming yet another promotion.

The ladies’ 3s had the toughest of fixtures against top of the table Shefford and Sandy. Despite losing the game 6-2, there was much to celebrate with fine performances across the pitch.

The young ladies’ 4s are coming on in leaps and bounds this season, however they do struggle against entirely adult opponents. That was the case with Luton this weekend as they were beaten 4-0 despite playing very well.

In the men’s section, the fourth XI provided the highlight when they knocked seven past second in the table Luton Vagrants.

The men’s 3s came away with a very good 2-2 draw against a surprisingly strong Bedford side as goals were scored by Amish Adodra and man of the match Kyle Purkiss.

The men’s 5s had a tough game against top of the table Bedford and suffered a 3-1 defeat. The Berko goal came from Colin Izzard – after 65 years at the club this was his first goal for Berko.
