After multiple promotions over the previous seasons, they have struggled in the lofty heights of an almost entirely first team league, however that all changed this weekend with an impressive 3-2 win against the Luton Town first team.

Man of the match Kieran Baxter had a great game alongside the good performances throughtout the team as they secured a well deserved victory.

Another men’s performance worthy of mention came from the fourth XI as they drew 2-2 against Potters Bar. In the corresponding fixture earlier in the season, Berko lost 7-1 which demontrates the impressive turnaround.

Elsewhere in the men’s section, the 3s had a very tight 2-1 defeat away at Luton 2s, while the first and fifth teams had less competitive results in their games as they both went down 5-1.

The ladies’ firsts, however, started the New Year in impressive fashion with a 4-2 win against Broxbourne, while the ladies’ 2s continued where they finished in 2015 with a comfortable 3-0 win against Bishop’s Stortford. Player of the Match was Leanne Keatley for her well taken brace of goals.

The ladies’ 3s lost out to Rickmansworth 2s in a tight game, and the ladies’ 4s were very unlucky to lose 2-1 against an experienced Stevenage side. Berko had the best of the game, but just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net.
