The maximum number of teams will be participating this year (28) – hailing from as far away as Royston, Bletchley and Roxeth, as well as those from Aylesbury, Bushey, Berkhamsted and other towns and villages in between.

This year has also seen the introduction of sponsorship: the club has been fortunate enough to have had donations from Waitrose (Berkhamsted), Temple of Vroom Driving School (Aylesbury), Kings Road Garage (Berkhamsted) and Oakleys Estate Agents (Berkhamsted) who have each donated money towards the £270 cash prize money.

In addition to the main event, there will be other attractions on the day, including a high quality bric-a-brac stall with all proceeds going to the local hospice; the club has given a lot of support to this and other charities throughout its 30-year existence.

There will also be a well-stocked tombola stall (with donations from club members) and a very impressive raffle, with all the prizes being donated by well known businesses in the town.

It is an all-day event, with play commencing at 10am and finishing about 6pm followed by prize giving and the raffle.

Liz Temple took over organising the event just last year, with the aid of Sheila Sorley. To find out more about Berkhamsted Bowls Club, please contact club secretary Lesley Brown, who would be delighted to give you more background information.
