Berkhamsted ladies move to the summit with victory over Royston

The Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club ladies’ second team started the year with an impressive 2-0 win at Royston to move to the top of the table.

Berkhamsted dominated possession in a fast-paced first half, but neither team could break the deadlock as the score remained 0-0 at half-time.

In the second half, the midfielders got back well to chase down the fast opposition and the forwards were in good space to latch on to through-balls from the defence.

Berkhamsted eventually took the lead when Becca Bowman put the ball through the keeper’s legs off the right post, with the assist coming from Sarah Groves.

Natasha Goodwyn swiftly popped in the second goal to secure Berkhamsted’s victory and ended any chance of Royston staging a fight- back.

Berkhamsted’s player of the game was Kate Jenkinson.
