The club’s two promoted ladies’ sides led the way with emphatic wins, and of Berko’s six promoted teams across the club there were two wins, two draws and two defeats.

The ladies’ second team continued as they left off last season with a 2-0 win against Chiltern, while the ladies’ thirds recorded an fine 3-1 victory against Milton Keynes.

The ladies’ first XI finished a thoroughly entertaining game with a 1-1 draw against Chiltern I, while elsewhere two of Berko’s four promoted men’s teams made successful starts to the season.

The men’s second side had a ding dong battle with Hertford I, finishing with a 3-3 draw. It’s going to be a tough season for the team, who will be playing against first XIs for most of the season; however, in this result they have shown they are definitely up for the challenge. Man of the match and goal scorer on his league debut was Gareth Gainer.

Meanwhile, after two promotions in quick succession, the men’s third team continued to defy the odds with a brilliant 3-3 draw against Hertford. The men’s firsts, however, were very unlucky to lose 3-2 away at Southend having had the best of the play for most of the game.

The men’s fourth XI had a tough start in their new league with a 3-0 defeat against Letchworth, and the men’s fifths enjoyed much of the possession and were unlucky to not come away with a win. They lost 2-1 with young starlet Toby Payton being man of the match.
