Berkhamsted keep up bright start with six wins from seven

Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club posted their first unbeaten weekend of the season as they recorded six wins and a draw from seven games.

The ladies had a magnificent weekend, with all three teams winning their games.

The first team beat Hertford 4-3 in an enthralling battle, while the seconds had a tough away trip to league leaders Saffron Waldon but triumphed 1-0 as a deflected goal from Anna Macklin was enough to win the match.

The third XI continued their great start to the season with a 2-1 win against Stevenage. Goals were scored by Lili Fitzsimmons and Charlie Nash, while player of the match was Rachel Vickers.

The men’s section nearly had the perfect weekend as well, with the third team bagging a 5-2 win over Hertford which sees them move into second place in the league.

The fourth side continued their brilliant season as a last minute winner from man of the match Jeremy Steed earned a 2-1 victory over Letchworth.

The seconds had a very exciting ding dong fixture against Hertford II which finished all square at 2-2.

The highlight was a brace from Thomas Moorhouse, the second of which was an incredible individual goal.

The fifth XI played a friendly against Southgate Tankards which they won 3-0 with goals from Nick Cave, Brian de Mattos and Andrew Whitaker.
