Marks & Spencer is recalling its Gluten Free Scotch Eggs

Marks & Spencer is recalling its Gluten Free Scotch Eggs - because they contain gluten.

The firm has had to recall their packets of two Gluten Free Scotch Eggs because they contain gluten which is not mentioned on the label.

The firm said it means the product is a "possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to gluten" the food watchdog say.

The affected scotch eggs include all sell by dates up to and including Monday January 29th, 2018.

The supermarket giant has put up notices around stores so customers know to return Marks & Spencer 2 Gluten Free Scotch Eggs.

A 'recalled' product is when customers are asked to return the goods to be refunded.

A spokesman for the Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: "This product contains gluten making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to gluten.

"If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to gluten do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

"Marks & Spencer is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

"The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product."

No other Marks & Spencer products are known to be affected.
