Cyprus will end quarantine restrictions for British holidaymakers from August, the country's health minister has announced.

From 1 August onwards, tourists from the UK will be able to enter Cyprus without having to quarantine.

Here’s everything you need to know.

UK tourists will not have to quarantine

The announcement follows the UK's own list of air bridges, which means those returning to England from Cyprus will not have to self-isolate for two weeks.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) changed their advice for travel to Cyprus from 4 July, and from 10 July those returning home from Cyprus will not have to quarantine.

The FCO explains that “from 4 July, Cyprus is exempt from the FCO advice against all non-essential international travel. This is based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.”

However, although the UK is lowering its own restrictions, many safety measures remain in place in countries abroad.

Currently, you cannot enter Cyprus if:

  • you have been in the UK in the last 14 days
  • you can only enter Cyprus if you can show proof that you are a legal resident of Cyprus or a Cypriot ID holder and a negative PCR test result (taken in the previous 72 hours)

The FCO adds “the Republic of Cyprus government have indicated that this may change from 1 August. You should continue to track developments through the Republic of Cyprus Information Office.”

Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou confirmed that from 1 August the UK will be able to enter Cyprus without quarantining.

A total of 14 other countries, including France, Spain and Italy, will also be able to enter Cyprus without having to quarantine.

According to local media, Mr Ioannou said, "The decision will be implemented on the condition that the United Kingdom continues to post the same positive epidemiological results.”
