Story of British Army’s first black officer to be told on stage

The first black officer in the British Army - Walter Tull - is portrayed in a powerful new play currently touring in celebration of Black History Month. The Hallowed Turf will be staged at the Old Town Hall in Hemel Hempstead on Friday. It tells the true story of Walter Tull - the Spurs and Northampton football star who became the first black British combat officer to serve in the First World War. Tickets for the play, starting at 8pm, cost £12, £10 concessions, £9 Dacorum Card, £5 UpStaged.
