Work begins on towpath improvements
Works are starting this week to upgrade the towpath along the Grand Union Canal at Berkhamsted.
The Canal and Rivers Trust has secured funds for the works, which are expected to be completed by early April. During the improvements, the towpath, which runs from close to Broadwater to Billet Lane, will be closed to the public, neighbouring householders and boaters.
An alternative diversion route has been put in place.
The works, which started today (Monday), will improve the width and condition of the towpath and will involve the removal of vegetation.
