At around 6.15pm on Monday, June 27 a 59-year-old woman was walking along Station Road in Tring when she was approached from behind by two men.

They tried to grab her handbag and as she kept hold of it, she was dragged to the floor. Members of the public shouted at the men who then ran off.

The first man is described as white, around 6ft tall, of skinny build with mousey blond hair and was wearing a beige pullover hoody.

The second offender is described as a white man who was wearing a dark blue top with horizontal stripes and a hood which was up.

Officers carried out a search of the area but have not yet found the men. The investigation is on-going.

Inspector George Holland, from Dacorum’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Crimes of this type are unusual in Tring and I would like to reassure the community that we are working hard to identify and locate the offenders.

“As part of our work to keep the community safe, police patrols have been increased in the area during this time.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw two men matching the descriptions in the area around the time stated is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference D3/16/334.
