Hertfordshire County Council is reminding drivers to make essential journeys only as the gritter teams spread grit across 9,000 miles of Hertfordshire roads.

The gritting teams worked through the night to ensure Hertfordshire's roads remain safe, and between Saturday and lunchtime today (Monday) the teams spread 1,800 tonnes of grit across the county's roads.

Six runs have gone out from the depots which is the equivalent of Lands End to John O’Groats ten times.

Today (Monday) Hertfordshire is expecting some high winds and with powdery snow this can sometimes drift back onto roads, especially in open areas.

Testing sites

Broxbourne Lido and Paradise Wildlife Park Testing Units are closed today due to adverse weather conditions. If you had an appointment booked, you will receive a text to cancel but the door-to-door teams continue to visit addresses in this postcode as planned.

Three Rivers and Watford Mobile Testing Units for those with symptoms are closed today due to adverse weather conditions. If you had an appointment booked, you will receive a text to re-book from the Department of Health and Social Care.
