A book group with a difference set out last Thursday to walk and talk about Rachel Joyce’s novel, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.
Meeting at Hemel Library’s temporary base in the Civic Centre, the group of 14 departed at 10am for an hour-long walk through the old town and down the River Gade, while discussing the plot and themes of the book.
Participant Grace Brett said: “I enjoy walking very much, and the fact that the walk was connected to this book made it even more interesting.
“I spoke to lots of people I’d never met before. It was great to compare our thoughts about the book.”
Librarian Jo Cornish said: “The Walking Reading Group is just one part of the great work libraries do supporting the health and wellbeing of communities. Walking and reading are both fantastic activities for improving health, so we decided to bring them together.
