Two rugby clubs broken into on the same night

Both Tring and Hemel rugby clubs were broken into on the same night this week.

Police were called to Hemel Hempstead Rugby Club, Chaulden Lane, at around 2am on Wednesday (March 9) after reports that the alarm was going off.

Offenders had forced the main front door into the club and carried out a search, before escaping with cash from the tills.

Damage was caused to the CCTV system, external lighting, the alarm system external and internal doors.

The following morning members of Tring Rugby Club in Cow Lane discovered that there club had been broken into between 10pm on Tuesday and 8.20am on Wednesday.

Offenders this time broke in by smashing the glass pane of an external door with a metal beer keg. Once inside they carried out a search before emptying cash from three charity tins that were on the bar.

Damage was caused to the alarm system, along with external and internal doors.

It is not known if the two crimes were linked.
