TV: Are you caught in a postcode lottery?

The producers of a new BBC series called ‘Postcode Lottery’ are looking for stories where people’s postcodes affect what services they can or cannot receive, or how much they have to pay for them.

“We’re interested in talking to anyone who believes they’re caught in a postcode lottery,” says producer Geoff Evans.

“You might have been refused medical treatment or drugs, just because of where you live.

“You might be paying more car or home insurance than the house across the road just because you’ve got a different postcode.

“When you stop and think about it, a lot of us are affected by a postcode lottery.”

The series, being made for the BBC by Presentable Television and airing on BBC1 in the New Year, is looking to feature stories across a wide range of areas.

“Of course health and social care are big issues at the moment,” says Geoff. “But there are postcode lotteries in everything from transport to education to domestic bills and utilities.”

If you think a postcode lottery is affecting you or your family, Geoff and his team would like to hear from you. Email your stories to [email protected]
