The annual event will take place as usual at Tring Park Cricket Club on November 8 this year, but the event has come a long way since it first started in 1964.

Spectators can, as usual, look forward to food and drink stalls, a Guy competition and live performances from local bands and artists, as well as the main event – a spectacular fireworks display set to music.

More than 300 individual fireworks are expected to be set off, but not before a team of eight people will work for eight hours to set the display up, using 75metres of cabling.

Senior firer Matt Partner was required to complete extensive mandatory training in order to be qualified to control the display, which will rise as high as 500 feet in the air with the tallest firework.

All proceeds from the event go to sustaining the clubhouse and grounds, which help support a variety of sporting and fitness activities in the area.

Club chairman Simon Shearman said: “The fireworks night makes a vital contribution to maintaining a wonderful community sports facility and we are extremely grateful for the support of the town and our sponsors.

“We learned a lot from last year and promise an even better show this time round.”

A number of local businesses are supporting the 50th anniversary show, including Tring Brewery, Tring Park Day Nursery, Sterling Estate Agents , Specsavers and Oakman Inn pub The Akeman, which is sponsoring the event for the second year.

Chief executive Peter Borg-Neal said: “Anyone who has lived in Tring for the past 10 years knows how the town has developed in so many positive ways, particularly in terms of leisure opportunities. The Festival of Fire is a highlight in the Tring calendar and a great night out for the whole family.”
