A hospice charity is calling all canines to put their best paw forward in a sponsored walk through the Chiltern Hills.

Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s annual Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge attracts two-legged and four-legged walkers alike.

And this year the charity, which cares for patientswith life-limiting illness and their families, is offering a prize for the pooch who raises themost sponsorship at the popular event, which takes place on Sunday, September 13.

The dog that does best in the sponsorship stakes will be the proud recipient of a cosy new bed, kindly donated by Rennie Grove vice-presidents Maddie Blackburn and Paul Dennison.

Director of Fundraising & Marketing for Rennie Grove, Gillian Barnett, said: “We realise the bed might only appeal to half the dog demographic so, in order to incentivise everyone, we’re throwing in some tasty treats from our friends at Gosford Pets in Tring.”

The walk starts and ends at Princes Risborough school.

Walkers can take on two peaks in the five-mile option, or tackle all three peaks with the nine-mile or 18-mile routes.

All walkers will complete the scenic five-mile route from Princes Risborough to Wendover, via two peaks, Whiteleaf Cross and Coombe Hill.

Those tackling the nine-mile route will then board a bus at Wendover and travel to Tring station to complete the additional four-mile walk to Ivinghoe Beacon.

And the diehards can walk the entire 18-mile route.

Gillian said: “Thanks to Arriva Buses, you and your dog willbe transported safely back to your car, wherever you choose to finish your challenge.

“Andthat dog bed would be the perfect end to a day’s hiking in the hills with hundreds of otherfurry friends.”
