Thousands spent on improving Dacorum’s roads

Herts County Council has dedicated £39.8million to road improvements along the county’s 3,000 miles of highways during the financial year 2015/16.

So far in Dacorum works have included major patching to the A41 westbound on and off sliproads, which were completed in June, costing £118,012. Resurfacing in late April of Long Chaulden costing £180,330 and improvements of the Moor End Road bus lane and car park in Hemel Hempstead along with the upgrade of the Leighton Buzzard Road costing £600,000.

Councillor Terry Douris, who oversees highways, said: “In Hertfordshire we have a very busy road network and we share our residents’ views that it is very important to keep these safe and moving.

“To do this we need to make sure that the resources we have are used in the most efficient way, so our works programmes are carefully calculated using a system for which we have been nationally recognised as a leading authority.”
