Mum-of-two Nikki, 37, was murdered in her Grovehill home by an intruder in September last year, leaving behind her husband Daniel, 39, and their young son and daughter.

Nikki’s family, friends and the wider community came together at Hemel Hempstead Football Club in Vauxhall Road to play a football match in her memory.

The day, on Sunday, May 15, raised money for both Child Bereavement UK and Nikki’s Wishes, a fund set up to support Daniel and his children.

Mathew Griffin, an organiser of the Nikki Cross Memorial Cup and Family Fun Day, said: “The people of Hemel Hempstead and local businesses should be extremely proud of the support and generosity given to the Nikki Cross Memorial Cup and Family Fun Day.

“To successfully host a major event in Nikki’s name was only made possible through this community spirit generating a huge response and turnout on the day.

“We are particularly grateful to the fantastic team of volunteers who gave up their time to provide assistance before, during and after the main event. On behalf of the organising committee and Cross family, I would like to thank everyone who supported this amazing and special event in Nikki’s name.”
