Travellers wanting to set up home in caravans on land in Bovingdon are hoping it will be third time lucky with planning chiefs.
Michael Cash and his family have once again submitted a planning application to site up to 16 caravans on green belt land near the old Bobsleigh Hotel in Hempstead Road.
A previous planning application in 2014 was refused by Dacorum Borough Council after being deemed inappropriate and an earlier submission in 2013 was withdrawn before being considered.
Now Mr Cash has made a fresh bid for eight families, each with up to two caravans, to move in to the village.
Documents reveal that the families currently live at temporary sites or at the roadside and several members have complex health needs and children are missing out on schooling.
The planning application is currently out to public consultation with a decision scheduled for December.
So far, 276 people have said they are against it and one is in favour. A petition with 112 signatures objecting to the plan has also been submitted.
