A man with bald ambition to raise money for charity has auctioned off the chance to chop off his long locks in aid of good causes.

Chris Evans of Tring had his head shaved for charity in Tring’s The Kings Arms – his former ponytail will be donated to the Little Princess Trust which provides real-hair wigs to young boys and girls who lose their own hair through cancer treatment.

The event formed part of the pub’s one year anniversary celebrations, and Chris succeeded in raising t £500 for the chairty OUCH – theOrganisation for the Understanding of Cluster Headaches – on the night. Chris himself suffers from the condition, which you can readmore about from

Formerly bushy Chris encouraged pubgoers to bid for the opportunity to shear off the hair, with Kings Arms landlord Rob Muirhead cutting off the ponytail and Chris’ father Keith and girlfriend Amanda both taking turns with the clippers. The final tidying up was left to town hairdresser Wayne MacLaughlin.
