A brand new boss has taken up the helm at a Hemel Hempstead-based global aid charity.
Hope for Children – which has its base in the town centre’s Bridge Street but helps young people affected by war and natural disasters around the world – has welcomed Murielle Maupoint its new chief executive.
Murielle, who brings extensive experience inthe charity sector from her previous role heading up a youth homelessness charity, has replaced Hope’s Simon Jackman who left the organisation after 20 years of service.
In her previous role, Murielle not only managed to rapidly expand the number and breadth of the charity’s services, but also achieved a number of major accolades including the Andy Ludlow Award, Investors in People, Champions of Learning, National Training Awards and UK Charity Awards.
Murielle’s other roles have included co-founding Encouraging Women into Franchising, an advice, advocacy and education NFP and Non-Executive Director roles for Heathrow City Partnership and Victim Support.
Knowledgeable Murielle has also worked in mental health and the criminal justice systems and has even run her own companies, developing eco-lodges in South America
and West Africa and delivering motivational training and leadership coaching services whilst also launching publishing and crowdfunding businesses.
She joins Hemel Hempstead’s Hope – set up by Warners End humanitarian Dr Bob Parsons 20 years ago – to help it reach more children around the world from 2015.
HOPE’s Chair of Trustees, Neil Robertson, said in a statement: “The next year or two are going to be very exciting ones for the charity and we will need energy, passion, innovation and clear leadership to achieve continuous improvement.
“Murielle’s strong leadership skills, strategic thinking and extensive NFP and commercial business background are ideal to continue to develop and grow HOPE as we look ahead to a bright future.”

Hope for Children has also unveiled its brand new website this week.
Developed by Tring-based design and marketing agency, Satellite Creative, the site has been redesigned to provide a clean, visually appealing interface that
aims to increase engagement with existing supporters and to encourage morevisitors to become active fundraisers.
Chris Lyne, HOPE Marketing Manager, said, “As part of our 20th Anniversary, we wanted to overhaul the website so that it offers a much improved user experience
which clearly communicates our values to supporters.
“The focus is now firmly on how we help children across Africa, Asia and the UK as well as the ways in which visitors can get involved and support us. We have
managed to include far more image content in our template creating a more engaging online experience for our supporters.
