Emma Hart, 34, of Chaulden, raised £5,600 in the sponsorship, almost tripling her original £2,000 target for the Haemophilia Society.

She wanted to support the charity as her sons Samuel, eight, and Oliver, five, suffer with the condition.

The mum, who had held several fundraising events including men’s waxing nights and family fun days prior to the trip, took on the challenge with her cousin Mandi Walshe.

Emma said: “It was without a doubt one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life.

“There were lots of ups and downs and the amount of emotions felt was unreal. Iceland really is one of the prettiest countries that I had ever seen but the trek we did was the hardest I have ever done.

“We were climbing mountains in gale force winds and pelting rain with sheer drops next to us and clinging on for dear life. But we did it and it was the most amazing feeling ever.”

The pair plan to take on even more tasks in order to raise money and awareness for haemophilia.
