Summer roadworks coming to conclusion

A summer-long scheme to '¨resurface 705,000 square '¨metres of roads across the county is nearly complete.

Herts County Council has been conducting surface dressing on around 70 roads as part of the range of routine maintenance and improvements on roads, pavements, streetlights, and bridges.

Terry Douris, cabinet member for highways at County Hall, said: “Hertfordshire’s 3,000 miles of road are among the busiest in the country.

“That’s why, despite the huge financial pressures we face, Hertfordshire County Council continues to invest heavily in our roads.

“We are spending more than ever before on
repairs as part of our on-going
commitment to maintain and improve our roads to ensure
they are as safe and well
maintained as possible.”

This programme of
surface dressing is separate to a £4million maintenance scheme of micro-surfacing to 460,000 square metres of quieter and residential roads.
