The RAF Halton Triathlon and Duathlon makes a welcome return on Sunday, July 31, in aid of Rennie Grove Hospice Care.

It’s being relaunched with a duathlon option to open up the competition for those who prefer not to swim.

Rennie spokesperson Gillian Barnett said: “We appreciate that it can take a while to train up but we still welcome and encourage any latecomers to sign up and take part.

“Everyone who enters will be faced with the physical challenge that is the triathlon or duathlon and we will be there supporting them all the way.”

Participants can choose to compete in a Mini Olympic consisting of a 600m swim, 34.5km cycle and 5km run, a Super Sprint involving a 300m swim, 23km cycle and 5km run or a Duathlon featuring a 5km run, 23km cycle and finishing with another 5km run.

The event is being supported by several local companies including Aldbury-based sportswear provider Ashmei, who are donating prizes for the fastest male and female in each race category, including a £30 gift voucher and sports socks.
