The location was chosen by BBC2 as a filming location for the second series of The Hollow Crown, in which he will play Richard III.

The Ashridge Estate has been popular with movie-makers recently. Facebook rumours suggest Samuel L Jackson was there not long ago for the filming of Tarzan – which has an estimated budget of $90,000,000 and is due out in 2016.

It is currently being filmed in Leavesden Studios.

The first series of The Hollow Crown – an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s history plays – was broadcast in 2012. The second series is due to air on TV in 2016.
