Sentimental items stolen as burglars raid family home

The break-in at a house in Chesham Road took place between 6pm on August 25 and 10.30am on August 27, but police have today released photos of the items in the hope of returning it to the victims.

The thieves entered the home through the back door while the occupants were out.

A number of items were stolen including a gold Tudor watch, which has a gold face and brown strap. It is engraved with the words: ‘BR Western Region W. H. Cross 45 years’ service’.

A gold Oasis watch, which has a gold face and a brown leather strap and a white gold engagement ring with a sapphire centre and diamonds around the edgen were also swiped, as well as a number of old coins including two Queen Elizabeth crowns, two Churchill crowns and four half crowns.

PC Francis Mungai, investigating, said: “The victims of this crime have been left devastated by the loss of these items as they hold such sentimental value to them.

“The items are distinctive and so I would ask anyone who is offered any of the items for sale, or knows of their whereabouts, to contact me straight away.

“I would also ask anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in Chesham Road around the time of the burglary to contact me.”
