The UK’s top female cyclists will be racing through more than 20 miles of Dacorum’s countryside this June in the final stage of the Friends Life Women’s Tour.
The final leg of the tour starting in Marlow, Bucks, on Sunday, June 21, will travel through Berkhamsted, Tring, Aldbury, Ashridge, Potten End, Warners End and Boxmoor in Hemel Hempstead before coming to an end in Gadebridge Park.
The Friends Life Tour of Britain is British Cycling’s premier road cycling event giving cycling fans the opportunity to see the world’s best teams and riders competing on their door step.
The final stage will provide a tough summit final climb of the day up Tom’s Hill Road in Aldbury, before descending into Hemel Hempstead for the sprint finish along Leighton Buzzard Road.
Last year Dacorum hosted the men’s Friends Life Tour of Britain and around 25,000 local people turned out to watch the race through the borough. Even more spectators are expected this year for the weekend race finale.
Dacorum Borough Council will be planning a range of events and activities to celebrate the occasion and make the most of the opportunity that the race brings for local people and businesses.
Highlights of the five day race will be screened on ITV4.
