Rail replacements for travel into the capital this weekend

The railway line linking Dacorum with London Euston will be closed this weekend as part of Network Rail’s £81m improvement plan to nine miles of track in the Watford area.

This Saturday and Sunday, December 27 and 28, the line will be closed from Hemel Hempstead.
Operator London Midland will run replacement buses to Stanmore tube station calling at Apsley, Kings Langley and Watford around every 30 minutes.

The service amendments follow a series of earlier closures over the summer.
Terry Oliver, London Midland’s head of West Coast services, said: “During previous closures of this line, we were pleased that passengers followed our advice to travel on alternative dates or with other operators.

“We are hopeful that our customers will choose to do this again during the December closure, as journeys will be much longer and busier.

“London Midland will have extra staff at key stations along the route to provide assistance and travel advice.

“If passengers do need to travel over the Christmas period, they should remember to plan ahead, allow plenty of time and check before they travel.

“We’d like to thank our passengers in advance for their patience and co-operation.”

When the project is complete in April 2015, passengers will benefit from a more reliable train service and robust railway between Milton Keynes and London Euston.
