Rail landslide: No London Midland trains from Milton Keynes to London today

Some rail services have been cancelled by both London Midland and Southern today, after a landslide at Leighton Buzzard.

London Midland has cancelled a number of trains between Milton Keynes and Euston, while Southern have done the same between Watford and Milton Keynes.

Staff from Network Rail have been carrying out urgent repairs to railway embankment slip at Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire.

The embankment slip took place on Saturday and engineers have worked through the weekend to fix the problem.

A London Midland spokesman said its Milton Keynes to London Euston service had been cancelled because one of the railway lines had been closed.

However, the spokesman said services between Birmingham and London Euston were still running, and still making stops at Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes.

A Network Rail spokesman said: “We are carrying out urgent repairs at Leighton Buzzard to ensure the ongoing safety of the railway.
