Racism is bad, say county's councillors
Hertfordshire County Council voted unanimously to condemn racism, xenophobia and hate crimes this week.
The full council supported a Liberal Democrat motion on Tuesday (July 19) calling on the council to publicly condemn all acts of racism and hatred and to ensure that local bodies and programmes have the support and resources to tackle the issue.
Richard Thake, cabinet member for community safety at County Hall, said: “We are proud that in Herts we live in a diverse and tolerant society in which racism, xenophobia and hate crimes have no place.”
