A community quilt with a truly global feel was raffled off at Tring Festival in aid of Rennie Grove.

The 25 Days of Christmas quilt was the idea of John Cole-Morgan, who volunteers at Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s Iain Rennie charity shop in Tring.

John, from Aldbury, started a quilting group on Facebook in July.

And through this group, 15 people from the UK, the Netherlands, Cyprus, the USA and Canada all volunteered to contribute quilting blocks for John’s community quilt, which he then pieced and machine-quilted.

John said: “After explaining the love and care of the staff at Rennie Grove to the local community in the time of their greatest need, my quilting buddies were determined to help as much as possible.

“This quilt, like the organisation, is based in love and kindness and we hope the money raised will aid the charity to carry on the excellent work it does.”

The quilt raffle raised £381 for Rennie Grove, which provides end-of-life care for patients and their families.
