Hosted by InsureLearnerDriver, The Learn to Drive with Parents Day takes place at the airfield from noon to 4pm on Sunday, May 22.

Whether they’ve never had a driving lesson or want to perfect their skills, learners can take along a car and an accompanying driver for a day of hands-on driving experience, under the helpful eye of Sirens Driving Academy’s expert instructors.

The event is part of InsureLearnerDriver’s Learn to Drive with Parents Week, which runs from May 16 to 22, encouraging learners to practise driving with theirparents, which can be done at the fraction of the cost of a paid lesson.

On the Learn to Drive with Parents Day, learners can practise with other provisional licence holders on purpose-built courses that will test their driving ability and receive expert guidance from trained driving instructors.

As well as getting in valuable practice, it’s an opportunity for learners and parents to bond over the trials and tribulations of learning to drive.

Learners need to take out insurance cover while they are driving in their parents’ care.

InsureLearnerDriver are offering a £10 promotional deal for a one-day policy that covers the learner in their parent’s car. The comprehensive cover can be bought instantly online.

According to the Rroad safety charity, Brake: “Research shows that the combination of youth and inexperience puts younger drivers at high risk. Their inexperience means they have less ability to spot hazards, and their youth means they are particularly likely to take risks.”
