Police appeal after fatal road accident on Hemel Hempstead Road, near Little Gaddesden

A WOMAN in her 70s has died after a collision between two cars on a single carriageway.

Police were called to the scene at the junction between Pedley Hill, Hudnall Lane and Hemel Hempstead Road, just after 11.20am on Sunday, April 22.

They believe a red Honda Jazz pulled out of Pedley Hill onto Hemel Hempstead Road, where the speed limit is 60mph, and collided with a Citroen C2.

The collision caused the Honda to come off the street and into a verge on the opposite side of the road, near Little Gaddesden.

A woman in her 70s, who had been in the rear passenger seat of the Jazz, died as a result and its male driver was taken to Watford General Hospital with minor injuries.

The male driver of the silver Citroen, which had been travelling south-east towards Hemel Hempstead, had minor injuries.

PC Robert Hauxwell, from the Beds and Herts Roads Policing Unit, is investigating the incident.

He said: “Sadly a woman has lost her life in this accident and so I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who can help establish what has happened.

“I’d urge anyone who saw the incident take place or who saw either vehicle beforehand to contact me on the police non-emergency number 101.”
