Margaret Griffiths, portfolio holder for housing, said: “Back in May, we held an open day for local residents to hear their views on the proposed community orchard.

“There was overwhelming support for the idea, so we’re creating a beautiful orchard that will provide free fruit for everyone.

“You don’t need to know anything about planting trees - just come along and join our planting party tomorrow.”

There will be lots of free fun for all the family with activities including a local folk band, a smoothie bike, face painting and a free prize draw to win a Sony digital camera.

The council is working in partnership with Osborne, Sunnyside Rural Trust and the Hertfordshire Orchard
Initiative to reinstate orchards in the area.
