In pictures: mobility scooter crushed by van

The accident happened along St Albans Road, Hemel Hempstead, close to the Magic Roundabout just after 3pm.

Paramedics took a pensioner in his 70s, who had been riding the scooter, to Watford General Hospital but the extent of his injuries are still not known.

Firefighters were also called to the scene because there were initial fears that the man may have been trapped.

However, on arrival they discovered this was not the case.

The road was reopened after the mobility scooter was recovered.
