Jarman Square cinema is set to have the first part of its £7million revamp unveiled this autumn.
Empire Cinemas will re-open on Friday, October 9, with bosses promising “the most cutting edge, immersive viewing experience”.
The Phase 1 opening will mean the cinema is home to nine screens at its initial launch.
And the full re-launch takes place on October 26, with all 17 screens open to the public, seating for up to 2,266 film fans, a 281-seat IMAX auditorium, plus a conference suite and party room, as well as new restaurant units.
Justin Ribbons, CEO of Empire Cinemas, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing a brand new cinema to Hemel Hempstead’s new and sure to be number one leisure destination – Jarman Square.
“The introduction of IMAX® & IMPACT into the new complex reinforces our commitment to providing the most cutting edge, immersive viewing experience to our customers and the best cinema-going experience in the area.”
Andrew Cripps, President of IMAX EMEA, said: “We are incredibly excited to bring the unique IMAX experience to moviegoers in Hemel Hempstead.
“Together with our partner, Empire Cinemas, we look forward to delivering audiences today’s biggest blockbusters in the most immersive cinematic experience.”
