For too long our readers have suffered after the A&E department at Hemel Hospital closed in 2009.

And this past week has been the final straw for many, as Watford Hospital told patients over THREE separate periods not to attend A&E unless their condition was urgent.

That is why the Gazette is calling on our readers to join our cry this week. It is time that A&E services were returned to Hemel Hempstead - and now you can sign our petition online.

Simply click here to sign up to our petition. At 10,000 signatures the government will respond to this petition. At 100,000 signatures, this petition will be considered for debate in Parliament.

You can also print out the form on this story and send your views to the Gazette, The Gatehouse, Gatehouse Way, Aylesbury, Bucks, HP19 8DB.

Only together can we force our health bosses to re-think a policy that simply has not worked, and get A&E services back to Hemel.
