The seven-storey development will be known as The Foundry and will consist of a range of one and two-bedroom apartments, all with gated parking.

The Foundry’s name has been chosen to pay homage to the former steam driven foundry in Old High Street, established by the Cranstone family in 1798.

The development of the brownfield site is helping to fund the next phase of investment at West Herts College, as well as providing much-needed new housing for the local area.

Sales and Marketing Director for Bellway North London who are developing the site, Greg Allsop, said: “The Foundry is shaping up to be a very appealing development. Not only are we building apartments for the next generation of buyers in Hemel Hempstead, but we are also providing attractive open space beside the River Gade.

“The development is going to be suitable for a range of purchasers, particularly first-time buyers and those using Help to Buy, while the location is convenient for commuters to London Euston with trains from Hemel Hempstead taking about 30 minutes.”

The first homes are expected to be released for sale this summer, with the first residents likely to move in during 2021.
