Two people taken to hospital after collision near Berkhamsted

Two people were taken to hospital after a two vehicle collision, involving a van and a car, in Northchurch this morning (Thursday).

Police were called at around 8.10am today (Thursday) following a collision in New Road, Northchurch. Two vehicles were involved – a Citroen van and a Vauxhall Corsa – and the road was left blocked.

The East of England Ambulance Service sent two ambulances to the scene and two people were treated and transported to hospital.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "Officers attended, alongside the ambulance service. The fire service was also called to attend, as one of the vehicles was left smouldering.#

"Road closures were put in place while the vehicles were recovered. Two people were taken to hospital to have their injuries assessed."

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said: "The police alerted us to a road traffic collision in New Road, Northchurch, at 8.14am this morning.

"The fire engine from Berkhamsted was sent to the scene. On arrival the crew found two cars in collision in the road, but nobody was trapped and there was no fire situation.

"Firefighters assisted the ambulance service with casualty care."
