A homeless charity in Hemel Hempstead is urging people to sign up to their new virtual event - STEPtember.

DENS is challenging participants to complete 10,000 (or more) steps each day throughout the month of September to raise money to help vulnerable people in Dacorum take the next positive step in their lives.

Whether you are a serious stepper, a roving rambler or just want to get fit and get outdoors, STEPtember is great way to take in the beautiful scenery in and around Dacorum, whilst also supporting vulnerable people in your community.

Nicky Maxwell-Braithwaite, DENS events manager said: “Since lockdown, people have a new found love for walking which has so many health benefits.

"It’s a great way to get involved with our charity, and also help us recoup some of the shortfall from our cancelled programme of events.

"We’re delighted to have ‘Team Rocky Power’ from Partners in Support; an organisation working with people who have learning disabilities and autism in Hertfordshire.

"The money they’ve raised so far could provide 3 hungry families of four with 3-day food parcels."

Over a decade of walking, the sponsored walk has helped to fund DENS’ integrated services including their 44-bed Hostel, Day Centre and Foodbank.

This year, DENS want to raise even more to continue helping to rebuild the lives of local people in Dacorum, as well as highlight the issues that homeless people face.

Step up and make a difference this September, it’s free to enter and suitable for all ages and fitness levels, including your furry four-legged friends.
