Look out for the displays around Hemel Hempstead

Yarn bombers in Hemel Hempstead have created a knitted display for Remembrance Day and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. This will be the third year that the group have created a knitted display, and this year a new installation for the Jellicoe Water Gardens is being created, all the toppers and displays are now out. Christine Allsopp, who started the group two years ago, said: "We will be displaying red and purple poppies to remember the men and women who have served during our wars and the many animals who also took part. Attached to the displays will be labels with a link/QR code to our GoFund page which we use for collecting any donations. This year we are also raising money for a local animal charity as well as the local Poppy Appeal. We have had some donations on the Go Fund Me page already, which has been great, and we have had lots of positive comments and messages on Facebook. The response has been great, it's good to see receive some recognition for the work the group does. For us it is about enjoying it, we all enjoy it and that's why we do it. There will be knitted poppies sold at three locations, there will be purple poppies at Animaltastic in The Queen's Square, and red poppies at the Gadebridge Pharmacy, and The House of Elliott, on the High Street." If you spot the toppers and displays around town, you can share your photos by emailing [email protected].
