Mayor of Dacorum opens new leisure hub in Hemel Hempstead

A new leisure facility run in partnership with Dacorum Borough Council and local multi–activity organisation, Apex in the Community, is now open in Hemel Hempstead.
Mayor of Dacorum, councillor Terry Douris, opened the Active Dacorum Hub, located at Cupid Green Playing Fields, on Friday, August 21.

Hide AdThe building, previously known as the Cycle Hub, has been redeveloped and now offers additional facilities and space to accommodate a wide range of leisure and cultural activities.
As part of the Hub launch and Hertfordshire Year of Culture 2020, a Virtual Wellness Festival was held on Sunday, August 23.
The online event showcased the Hub with a variety of health and creative wellbeing activities delivered by local facilitators and filmed at Hub.
The activity videos which include family yoga, boxing fitness, dance, art, mindfulness and more, are still available to view on Dacorum Borough Council’s YouTube channel.Councillor Julie Banks, portfolio holder for Community and Regulatory Services and Member Champion for Hertfordshire Year of Culture said: “What a fantastic idea and way for Dacorum residents to get involved in online activities and to see the new Active Dacorum Hub.

The Active Dacorum Hub has a mirrored studio space for clubs, classes and workshops, a small gym run by Viking Circle Fitness and a café area with nutritious refreshments served by the Cake Shack.
The venue will be available for community hire and aims to become a vibrant and welcoming space for all.
