Children in Hemel Hempstead are being encouraged to express themselves in a variety of ways through the 'My 2021 Time Capsule' campaign.

Organised by the charity Place2Be, the theme of this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week (1st to 7th February) is ‘Express Yourself’.

To mark this year’s theme, The Marlowes Shopping Centre launched their ‘My 2021 Time Capsule’ campaign on Monday, February 1.

The campaign offers children and parents the chance to complete worksheets and activities throughout the week, allowing children to be creative when expressing their feelings and thoughts.

The free time capsule is available from The Marlowes website and can be completed both online and printed.

The fun activities and worksheets aim to encourage children to express their thoughts and feelings to their parents and guardians - ultimately aiming to improve mental wellbeing.

Once completed the capsule can then be tucked away somewhere safe for children to look back on in 2022.

Alongside offering children and parents the chance to complete their 2021 Time Capsule, The Marlowes has also provided a number of top tips to support children and young people.

From fun activity ideas such as baking and indoor treasure hunts to conversation starters and advice to make talking with parents and guardians easier.

Lavinia Douglass, marketing manager at The Marlowes, said: “This year, in particular, it is more important than ever for children to be able to convey how they are feeling right now.

"We’re delighted to be supporting this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week and we hope our ‘My 2021 Time Capsule’ campaign will encourage children to express their feelings through a variety of ways.

"It’s important children can express themselves in a way that’s unique to them.

"This can be about sharing feelings, thoughts and ideas through art, writing, poetry, dance and many more activities that make them feel good and ultimately improve mental health.”
