Hemel Hempstead community café boosted by Amazon donation

A charity and honesty café has received £2,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre team in Hemel Hempstead.

The award-winning Liberty Tea Rooms, in Hemel Hempstead, is run and staffed by volunteers from the local community and offers free services for those in need via a Community Hub.

The charity aims to bring liberty to people in the Hemel Hempstead community by enabling them to find freedom from debt, learn vital life skills and grow in confidence.

The charity also provides opportunities for people to receive practical and emotional support, helping them to overcome difficulties and make healthy, mindful life choices.

Liberty Tea Rooms plans to use the donation to support local families and fund training for volunteers.

Kerry-Anne Cooper, CEO and founder of Liberty Tea Rooms, said: “A big thank you goes to Mark and his team for this kind donation to us.

"Like many charities, COVID-19 has greatly impacted our in-person services, but we cannot wait to get back into the community when it is safe for us to do so – thank you again, Amazon, for believing in our work.”

This donation forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.
